Why Homeowners Choose
Residential Polished Concrete
Residential polished concrete is one of the few truly permanent flooring choices available to homeowners. Unlike hardwood that scratches, tile that chips, or LVT that yellows, a well-installed polished concrete floor will outlast the building it sits in — improving with age rather than degrading.
It is also one of the most versatile surfaces available. From the raw, industrial aesthetic of a warehouse kitchen to the soft warmth of a Japandi living room — the aggregate selection, colour, exposure level and sheen you choose defines the personality of the floor entirely.
We supply and install residential polished concrete floors across the UK — new builds, extensions, kitchen renovations and whole-house refurbishments. Every project starts with a free site survey and a fully itemised written quotation.

Finish & Sheen Options
A smooth, flat, completely matte surface — similar to honed stone. The grinding stops early in the sequence, leaving a fine, open-textured surface. Very popular for Nordic and Japanese-influenced interiors.
Our most popular domestic finish. A soft, silky sheen that catches light without being reflective — it looks rich and refined without feeling clinical. Works beautifully in kitchens, living areas and hallways.
The highest level of polish achievable. The surface becomes almost mirror-like, reflecting the room and flooding the space with light. A statement finish for hallways, reception areas and luxury kitchens.
The polishing process grinds deep enough to fully expose the larger stones inside the slab — similar to polished terrazzo, but created from the concrete itself. Integral colours can be added to the mix for a truly bespoke look.
A lightly ground finish that subtly reveals fine particles in the slab — giving a soft, speckled look without exposing large stones. Integral colours, company logos and intricate patterns using specialist dyes can also be achieved.
The most minimal and refined finish available — focused on the smooth cement surface rather than the stones inside the slab. The result is a clean, uniform surface often described as soft, cloudy or velvety. Colour is typically achieved using a dry shake colour hardener, which also creates a harder, more abrasion-resistant top layer.

Concrete FAQs
Concrete has high thermal mass — it absorbs and retains heat rather than feeling cold like stone tile. When paired with underfloor heating (which we strongly recommend), polished concrete feels genuinely warm underfoot and maintains that warmth for longer than any other flooring system. Without UFH, the floor will feel cool in an unheated room, similar to stone tile.
Yes. We work extensively in existing homes using concrete overlay systems that apply at just 3–10mm directly over existing tiles, screed or concrete — no demolition, no skip hire. A full pour is also possible where the floor is being opened for other reasons such as a new extension.
Hairline shrinkage cracking is a natural characteristic of concrete — not a defect. We design our mixes, joint placement and curing protocols to minimise this, and we are transparent with every client about what is realistic to expect. Structural cracks are a different matter and are addressed at the survey stage before any work begins.
For a concrete overlay system in an existing home (up to 60m²), installation takes 3–5 days with light foot traffic possible within 48 hours. For a fresh concrete pour, the slab needs 28 days to cure before grinding begins — total programme survey to handover is typically 6–8 weeks. We provide a detailed programme in your written quotation.
Absolutely — and we strongly encourage it. Our showroom in Mold, North Wales is the only dedicated polished concrete showroom in the UK. You can walk on every finish level, compare sheens, see different aggregates and colours under real lighting. Book an appointment and we will guide you through all the options in person.
